The story behind the Mahjong Collection

Bamboo, circles, flowers, a little bird and a dragon — how a game played across generations became a collection for the table.

The story behind the Mahjong Collection

Mahjong has been played around tables for generations — tiles clicking, stories passing from hand to hand. Its symbols are some of the most recognisable in the world: bamboo, circles, flowers, dragons, and the little bird that sits on the bamboo tile.

The Mahjong Collection brings those symbols to the table in a new way. Each bowl and platter is hand-painted, and each one takes its motif from a tile.

Five pieces, five tiles

  • Bamboo Blossom Bowl — the bamboo tile, with soft pink blossom.
  • Seasonal Floral Serving Bowl — the flower tiles, with chrysanthemum and peony.
  • Pink Dragon Serving Bowl — the dragon, framed by bamboo.
  • Bird & Bamboo Platter — the little bird on its bamboo stem.
  • Flower & Circle Serving Platter — circles, peonies and bamboo around the rim.

Made for gathering

These are pieces for evenings that run long: chai and mithai, namkeen passed around, a game that nobody wants to end. Pieces that get passed around the table — and talked about.
